JESSICA SCHAFER, MA/RP
Registered Psychotherapist
Couples Specialty
Part of the Rewriting Your Narrative Team, Jessica Schafer brings a wealth of experiences with her from private practice and mental health agencies.
Jessica is on maternity leave and will no longer be accepting new clients at this time. We wish Jessica all the best for her and her family during this new chapter! Here is a bio from Jessica "I have a Master's of Counselling Psychology and am a Registered Psychotherapist under the College of Psychotherapists of Ontario. I have previously worked for a family service agency, a multi-site non-profit counselling agency and another private practice. I feel deeply privileged to be able to offer clients a safe space to process, heal, and grow and I'm always in awe of the amazing courage and resilience I witness. " I work from a strengths-based stance, believing that the client is the expert on him or herself and already has the capacity for significant growth and healing. I use a number of different modalities in my work, matching various techniques and ideas to the needs of my clients and asking for feedback on what is working for them and what isn’t. I love to read and regularly do further research on issues my clients are facing. Recent influences have been Terrence Real, Harriet Lerner and Brené Brown. I am looking forward to pursuing training in Terrence Real’s Relational Life Therapy this year and hope to pursue EMDR training in the future." |
Michelle Villanueva, MA Candidate
Intern in Counselling Psychology
Rewriting Your Narrative welcomes Michelle as an intern in counselling psychology to the practice! Michelle will be co-facilitating sessions and building her psychotherapy experience with clients in the practice while she completes her Master's practicum throughout 2020.
Michelle brings a wealth of experiences with her to the practice! Here is a brief bio from her: My background is a diverse blend of psychology, human resources management and yoga/meditation theory. I’ve worked as a yoga instructor since 2014 and currently working on completing my Master’s of Arts in Counselling Psychology. Throughout my career, I’ve been keenly interested in a holistic approach to wellbeing and healing which has led me down this path. During my time as a yoga instructor, I had the opportunity to travel, teach and grow. This experience permitted me to work with people from many cultures and settings. I decided, after teaching, that I’d like to continue my passion for healing through understanding behaviour and helping others to build awareness and resilience. Psychotherapy was a natural choice for me because I enjoy building relationships and helping others to enjoy life by working through the stressful and difficult times. My hobbies include hiking, cycling and, of course, yoga and meditation. |
