Jessica brings 10 years of psychotherapy, counselling, and supportive services  granted through a wide variety of clinical environments.  Beginning into this field, Jessica wanted to be involved in many different environments in order to bring a wealth of experiences to clients.  Some of these experiences include hospitals, social service agencies, child mental health organizations, residential treatment facilities, provincial correctional institutions, school boards, and private practice.

Jessica finds it helpful to know about her clients, so in turn she would like to share some details of herself and her motivations for wanting to work in this field.

"Hi Friends, I have always had a fascination for learning everything psychology at the start of my academic career, the brain, consciousness, behaviour, trauma, addictions, and even those complicated things we call emotions! As I progressed from my undergraduate degree in Psychology and decided to advance my learning with a Master's degree in Counselling Psychology, a different fascination came about. The ability to help another person through trauma, challenge, sadness, or worry became a focal point for me. To meet someone where they are at, validate and respect their past and their story, and have that person trust in my ability to help them, is something I can only describe as humbling and an absolute honour.

When I am working alongside the client's that choose me as their psychotherapist, I like to refer to myself as the expert in putting the pieces of the puzzle together. The client is the expert in their life, their narrative, I am just the person that can see where everything fits and what pieces need to be rearranged to achieve their idea of wellness."

As a trained mental health professional Jessica obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and  Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. Also, as a registered psychotherapist, she adheres to the rigorous standards outlined by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. Jessica is also a registered general member in good standing with the OAMHP.

Contact Jessica Ricci today if you are ready to rewrite your story and reclaim your life!

Rewriting Your Narrative congratulates Michelle for her completion of her Master's degree in Counselling Psychology (MACP)! Rewriting Your Narrative also welcomes Michelle as a junior therapist to the practice! Michelle is currently accumulating hours towards her autonomous license for the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).

Michelle has been facilitating sessions and building her psychotherapy experience with clients in the practice throughout her Master's practicum throughout 2020.

Michelle brings a wealth of experiences with her to the practice! Here is a brief bio from her:

"It is easy to feel overwhelmed, exhausted, stressed and disconnected in our world today. The patterns that we have built throughout our lives can keep us “stuck”. Through the exploration of these patterns we can find balance, reconnect with ourselves and others while creating more positive and healthy patterns. It is through this understanding that we can shape and reintegrate new approaches, perceptions and behaviours better suited to our needs and goals.

With my clients, I strive to create a space free of judgment, and criticism. This space is essential for authentic exploration and most importantly, to truly be comfortable with the vulnerability of sharing and change. Through an integrative holistic approach, blending psychotherapy, yoga and meditation, I seek to help clients develop a deeper awareness of themselves.

Feel free to reach out via email or phone to arrange a 30 minute complimentary consultation. I would be happy to meet with you to see how we can collaboratively work together to reach your goals and start the process of healing."

"Regardless of who we are, we can all experience moments of despair and darkness.  The work I do here includes reducing the effects of painful thoughts and feelings and working towards a more full, rich and meaningful life.  My approach to therapy is trauma informed, evidence-based, client-centred and involves creating a safe and a non-judgemental space, and, collaboratively, coming up with a plan that suits you.
I am licensed as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) in Ontario and a member in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).  I am also a member of the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals.  I hold a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology and a Counselling Skills Certification.  As part of my continuing professional development, I have also obtained a mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) practitioner certification, a hypnotherapy certification, and telehealth training.  I have been practicing mindfulness for last 7 years, and, when suitable and desired by my clients, I incorporate mindfulness-based therapy with other psychotherapeutic modalities to improve their well-being and mental health.

Please feel free to contact me via email or phone to arrange a 30-minute free consultation.  Together, we can work towards maximizing your potential to live a more rich and meaningful life."

Jessica is on maternity leave and will no longer be accepting new clients at this time. We wish Jessica all the best for her and her family during this new chapter!

Here is a bio from Jessica

"I have a Master's of Counselling Psychology and am a Registered Psychotherapist under the College of Psychotherapists of Ontario. I have previously worked for a family service agency, a multi-site non-profit counselling agency and another private practice. I feel deeply privileged to be able to offer clients a safe space to process, heal, and grow and I'm always in awe of the amazing courage and resilience I witness. "

I work from a strengths-based stance, believing that the client is the expert on him or herself and already has the capacity for significant growth and healing. I use a number of different modalities in my work, matching various techniques and ideas to the needs of my clients and asking for feedback on what is working for them and what isn’t.

I love to read and regularly do further research on issues my clients are facing. Recent influences have been Terrence Real, Harriet Lerner and Brené Brown. I am looking forward to pursuing training in Terrence Real’s Relational Life Therapy this year and hope to pursue EMDR training in the future."
