Here is a brief bio from Alexi

I believe in providing you with a caring space, free of criticism and judgement, where we can safely explore your healing journey together. I look at myself as someone who will walk alongside you as a guide for support and will meet you where you are. Together, we will walk along old and new paths to uncover patterns and develop new understandings that bring meaning and authenticity to your life. I practice from a culturally sensitive and trauma-informed approach, using holistic and integrative techniques to create the right fit for your journey. Above everything else, I want you to feel heard and supported.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, and I have completed a Master's in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and received my undergraduate degree from the University of Waterloo. I provide support to those struggling with symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), relational trauma and abuse, anxiety, and depression. My experience also includes working with sexual assault and domestic violence survivors along with veterans, first responders and their families.
If you believe we will be a good fit, I would love to hear from you. Feel free to reach out for a free 20-minute consultation to see how I can best support you in forging this new path forward.

VIRTUAL PRACTICE

Part of the Rewriting Your Narrative Team, Jessica Schafer brings a wealth of experiences with her from private practice and mental health agency experiences.

Here is a brief bio from Jessica Schafer:

"I have a Master's of Counselling Psychology and am a Registered Psychotherapist under the College of Psychotherapists of Ontario. I have previously worked for a family service agency, a multi-site non-profit counselling agency and another private practice. I feel deeply privileged to be able to offer clients a safe space to process, heal, and grow and I'm always in awe of the amazing courage and resilience I witness. "

I work from a strengths-based stance, believing that the client is the expert on him or herself and already has the capacity for significant growth and healing. I use a number of different modalities in my work, matching various techniques and ideas to the needs of my clients and asking for feedback on what is working for them and what isn’t.

I love to read and regularly do further research on issues my clients are facing. Recent influences have been Terrence Real, Harriet Lerner and Brené Brown. I am looking forward to pursuing training in Terrence Real’s Relational Life Therapy this year and hope to pursue EMDR training in the future."

JESSICA RICCI, MACP/DCP(INP.)/RP/OAMHP

SENIOR ASSOCIATE;  REGISTERED  PSYCHOTHERAPIST

DOCTOR  OF  COUNSELLING & PSYCHOTHERAPY  (DCP) - IN   PROGRESS

CLINICAL   SUPERVISOR  (PSYCHOTHERAPY)

SPECIALIZING IN: Substance Abuse; Personality Disorders - Borderline Personality Disorder; Eating Disorders; Reflective Parenting/Attachment

Jessica brings over 10 years of psychotherapy and counselling, garnered through a wide variety of clinical experiences. Beginning into this field, Jessica wanted to be involved in many different clinical environments in order to bring a wealth of knowledge to clients.

Below, you can find more information regarding Jessica's career and motivations for pursuing psychotherapy.

"Hi Friends,

I have always had a fascination for learning about everything that is psychology at the start of my academic career. Whether this was the brain, consciousness, trauma, addictions, and even those complicated things we call emotions! As I progressed from my undergraduate degree in Psychology and decided to advance my learning with a Master's degree in Counselling Psychology, a different fascination came about. The ability to connect with and help another person through their traumas or life challenges became a focus point for me. To meet someone where they are at, validate and respect their past and their story, and have that person trust in my ability to help them, is something I can only describe as humbling.

Now pursuing a Doctor degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy, I am brought to another stage in my career, one that is more focused, more specialized, and better equipped to help those that may be facing complex experiences. I have also started supervising undergraduate and Masters students, as well as qualifying psychotherapists (RP-Q).

When I am working alongside the client that has chosen me as their psychotherapist, I like to refer to myself as the person that can put the pieces of the puzzle together. The client is the expert in their life, and their own narrative, I am really just the person that can see where everything fits and what pieces need to be rearranged to achieve their idea of wellness."
